The rumors are true… The twin brothers, Duncan and Griffin Cockfoster, who are the co-founders of Nifty Gateway, the NFT platform that brought digital art and ownership into the mainstream, have decided to step down from their positions and leave the company. The brothers are considered as visionaries and ambassadors for NFTs and have played a significant role in bringing NFTs to the mainstream. They have helped onboard many artists and created an entire new ecosystem for NFTs. They have decided to leave after four years to start another company.
During their tenure, they have made significant contributions to the growth of the NFT industry. Some of their notable achievements include:
- Paying out more than $500 million to artists for their work on the platform.
- Onboarding a large number of artists and collectors through accessible technology, making it easy for them to participate in the NFT market.
- Pioneering new ways to sell NFTs, such as OE’s (one-of-a-kind) and RA’s (rare) which have been widely adopted by other platforms.
- Partnering with big companies like Starbucks to power NFT apps, further increasing the reach and popularity of NFTs.
After they officially depart, the brothers will continue working for Nifty Gateway in an advisory role, per the tweet thread. As for new leaders for the company, Eddie Ma, VP of engineering, will take over as technical leader for Nifty Gateway.
